Nina and Hudson|| Couple Session|| Temecula CA

Have you ever wondered how a couple is so connected? The couple I photographed had a glow around them, and you could just tell that no matter what they would have to overcome, they were and will always be stronger together.

I met Nina and Hudson in one of my first ever couples’ sessions a little over a year ago. During this time, I was in the process of learning the ins and outs of photography and I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was that I wanted to learn. Prior to the session, I did a learning workshop. Then, we exchanged our Instagram account information and out we went. Over the year, I have kept communication with Nina by commenting, liking, or viewing her Instagram stories, and as each day passes, you can see that Nina and Hudson just complement each other so well. Their bond is strong, and I was inspired to share their story. I recently asked Nina if I could send her a questionnaire about their relationship and if it was okay for me to blog about it and she consented. Fast forward to today and here I am, about to tell you their love story!

Nina and Hudson met during their senior year in high school. At the time, Nina’s best friend was dating Hudson’s younger brother, and by association, they were introduced. Talk about love at first sight! Nina was instantly drawn to Hudson because he was unlike any guy she had ever met. His love for Jesus was radiating from him and she found his passion very attractive. Hudson felt the same about Nina. She, too, was very different from any girl he had ever met. You can say opposites attract, and as most of us know, God works in mysterious ways. They are both adventurous, fun, and loving, but they are also very different people. They complement each other well and they have a mutual love for Jesus and people.

When you start to date in high school, you start to get to know each other by spending a lot of time together. It was no different for these two young lovebirds. Nina and Hudson spent time talking and getting to know each other way before their first date. When they finally had their first date, it was full of the things they both enjoyed doing, First, they went to a restaurant for dinner and to watch the World Cup (Hudson is a big fan of soccer). Following dinner and the game, they went to the movies (Nina loves movies). Sounds like the perfect date if you ask me.

How did Hudson Propose to Nina?

Hudson and Nina have a unique story. As I have mentioned before, they were high school sweethearts. They started dating at the end of their senior year and became pregnant after having only dated for about 6 months. According to Nina, they themselves were still kids and it was not something they were anticipating so it was quite scary. At the time, Nina and Hudson had been dating long distance due to being in college. After only their first semester, they both agreed to move back home. The following summer, Nina gave birth to their beautiful blessing of a daughter, who they named Avaleigh. Marriage was not something they had discussed because, if they were being honest, marriage was terrifying. There was a lot of pressure put on them due to their circumstances, so neither brought it up. Nina did not want Hudson to feel obligated to marry her and she most definitely did not want to rush things if he did not feel ready. Again, they were just kids.

On New Year’s Eve, they attended a massive party at Hudson’s family’s house which Hudson had planned. Hudson stationed Nina and himself in the center of the room as everyone began to count down for the infamous Times Square ball to drop at midnight. When the timer hit zero, the family cut the lights and the TV, except for one light shining right above them. Everyone dropped to the floor and both Hudson and Nina were left standing. Nina was SHOCKED to say the least. She immediately grabbed Hudson and tried to pull him to the ground, stating, “Hudson, something is going on. Get down!” Needless to say, the proposal was a huge surprise…but Nina said yes!

After being married 7 and a half years and many adventures together, they have learned that their passion about sharing their love for Jesus and great communication is what makes their marriage stronger. They still enjoy making time to have heartfelt conversations in their cozy socks and love to share snuggles. An incredible trip to Italy where they reconnected with each other is what solidified their marriage. Nina shared a piece of advice with me and I have to say that I felt very moved by it and I have to share it with you guys. Tim Keller said, “The reason that marriage is so painful and yet wonderful is because it is a reflection of the gospel, which is painful and wonderful all at once. The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dare believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared to hope.” Invite Jesus into your marriage. Keep Him at the center, always.

Let’s give a cheer for the future dates in cozy socks and sharing snuggles. And let’s give another cheer to the out-of-the-ordinary dates, and hopefully a trip to Ireland for Nina and Hudson!

Nina if you are reading this, thank you for being so inspiring!
